I'd have to admit when I first got my Focus ST, I hated the navigation unit. I couldn't stand the MyFord Touch system. It was very, very, painfully slow and locked up about 15% of the time. There was a major update released at the beginning of this month that fixed all the issues. What a difference. I think Ford and Microsoft finally worked out most of the bugs. The system has worked great over the past few weeks. No more lock ups, very fast when changing screens, and it recognizes voice commands much better.

Glad to hear I hated the non nav sync voice command in my 2011 Mustang GT so I did not go nav this time and didn't plan on using it much as I tend to use my smartphone for that now or I fall way back to old school paper maps LOL

I've been using my photo for navigation a lot more than I used to, but it sure is nice to have a built-in nav system that you can hear easily, see well and that mutes your music when a turn alert is being spoken.

Picked up the Fiesta ST and it needed a Sync update.
The Fiesta ST navigation and voice recognition is soooo much better than the Focus ST unit.
It recognizes your voice and you don't need to shout, it is even usable.
Hopefully a fix comes out for the Focus.

Yeah what about apps? Where can I get some?
And ON that subject of apps, an idea!

Anyone who seen the video of Top Gear on the Fiesta ST, has seen the awesome head unit that came on the Renault Clio. It has performance data screens! Also has a screen to change the exhaust sounds to various other (mainly Renault, of course) cars.

In my recent VW R32, I had installed the Pioneer Z3 sat/navigation system which had a nice 7" LCD screen. It had screen options when in map/nav mode, which would display a 3 gauge g-force accelerometers. Were quite handy for AutoX events.

So if apps can be made, and installed into our Synch/My Ford Touch units, sure would be nice to add g-force, boost, and other USEFUL gauge screens. And seeing how it can generate a car health report, it must have integration into all systems of the car already? So only need to attach to those, and develop a GUI to display realtime results. Whoever could build this, could make some decent money. I know I'd buy it!

Someone elsewhere mentioned an Android app called Torque. It is perfect for what we'd like to have. Just need to find a way to install it onto the Ford My Touch / Sync screen. As I have had first hand experience with what happens if theives see anything in your car (car dock, suction cup mounts, even a charging cable), and will break in to steal things - it would be quite important to get it to display on the factory screen.

Here is something interesting I found. Seems Trapster is able to be installed on the (now) older VW RNS510 NAV/radio system. Would be really nice if we could get it integrated into our Ford My Touch / Sync system. Not only would we have navigation, but could show speed traps, red light cameras, and other info on the map screen.
