Just wanted to let you all know that I'm helping RedlineGoods develop a shift boot and armrest cover for the US FiSTs.

If you're not familiar with RedlineGoods, they are a Polish company that will wrap pretty much anything in leather with stitching and hundreds of options.

I hated the fake leather shift boot and fake leather armrest so i contacted them about developing something for the USA FiST owners, which they are happy to do. I personally went with Nappa black leather with silver stitching and it is a perfect match for the Charcoal Recaros. You can see my writeups on RedlineGoods.com!

Any thoughts on having them make a longer armrest. Coming from a Mustang, the FiST armrest is nonexistant. I was thinking of extending it myself, but my leather sewing abilities are nonexistant.

Thats actually a great idea but i don't think they would be able or willing to produce something like that. However, removing the armrest is the EASIEST thing i have ever done (3 T15 screws visible when you open the armrest) so maybe somebody else will give that a go.

I do agree thats its short however i worry that i might bump my elbow on it if it was any longer.

If you found a way to extend it they would wrap it for sure.

I made one for a previous car (1990 Mustang). I used particle board, and closed cell foam, but it was covered in cloth (YUCK). This time, I'm thinking fiberglass, metal, shaped foam, and incorporating one of the cup holders as a stabilizer. I've looked everywhere (well almost everywhere) but I cannot find anything I would purchase at this time. I guess, I'll be making my own. I've still got several engine mods and an escort hard wire install, so it will be some time before I tackle this effort.

I just emailed LeatherZ to see if they're interested in making FiST stuff. Loved their products in my Z4 M Coupe.

Haha I was talking with them too and had it all packed up ready to ship tomorrow. Odd about the shift boot as they told me they had the ST one. Guess I will put the armrest back together.

That would look sick. They use all types of different designs (double stitching, piping, leather strips, etc) in their covers so you can get pretty creative with it. I'm going pretty basic just matching the leather and stitching to the Charcoal recaros and white stitching. I'll definitely update as the process moves along!

Another way for me to go, would be a black shift boot with orange stitching. It would be a little more subtle.

FYI, I ordered some samples from them awhile back and the standard black nappa leather matches the Recaros pretty closely in color/texture.

Your Recaro's are black? Mine are dark gray. I thought they were all gray, even with the orange inserts.

They are all charcoal but the nappa leather isnt a true black so it should look good. And the texture is similar.

Great! Yet another option I was not aware of. If I had I would have gone for the orange or black in a minute. The gray just does not do it for me. I should have just ordered the Fiesta like all of my last 6 or so cars. It was one of the only spontaneous purchases I have maid in a long time.

Oops sorry Ron i dont think i worded that well. The only two options for seat colors are Molten Orange and Charcoal Gray.

However, Redlinegoods sells "Black Nappa Leather" which is not a true black so it should match my Charcoal Gray seats nicely when they use it for my shift boot and armrest.

I, like you, wish they had a full black leather option like i think the Focus STs did. Altho i like the FiSTs interior, this would have brought it to another level.

Shift boot and armrest are on their way to me as of today! Should hopefully be here by Saturday if not next week for sure. I think they ended up just removing the top part of the armrest, removing Ford's fake leather wrap and just replacing it with their own wrap.

Any updates?

Side note:
For those that want the orange stitching to match the MO interior. Would anyone be interested in a group buy? Maybe we could avoid the $19 upcharge for color matching thread (stitching). The orange they have standard would be way too bright.
